Some of the comments made no sense. In essence, they’re saying: ‘Because going to movies is so expensive, we go for pirated DVDs instead’. This is not very different from saying “It’s okay to steal if you can’t afford”. Not exactly the kind of ethic we want to teach our kids, isn’t it?
Piracy means stealing. So the question is not whether ticket prices justify the value they provide. The question is simply, ‘Are you a thief?’
There’s a thin line between stealing ideas and getting inspiration from them. It’s hard to tell the difference. On the other hand, there’s no such confusion regarding piracy. It’s plain wrong.
Coming to your question, Rajamouli may not be the right person to preach against piracy but he certainly has the right to fight against it. The logic is simple. Stealing stolen stuff is still a crime.
We decide to watch the movies on the net on a case by case basis. If the movie is an old movie, then, we go to online most of the times, since the quality is also really good. We try to avoid watching the Pirated content on the net in the first 2 or 3 weeks of the movie release. As such, the quality is not good for the pirated versions that show up in the net in the first 2 or 3 weeks.Already we strain our eyes by looking at the computer screens at work. I also have glasses. Its not worth watching a movie on the net with bad quality.
These days, Produces are really careful to prevent such pirated content showing up online in the first 2 or 3 weeks. I think PRODUCERS MUST BE CAREFUL. They cannot claim that somebody is stealing without producers taking any action.
Its not worth watching a really good movie that requires us to see in the big screen. Also, if the movie is a really good movie, theater folks should reduce the ticket prices after may be 2 or 3 weeks, so that savings can be done by the audience who are cost councious. I donot know about Theaters in India, but they do reduce the ticket prices after about 2 or 3 weeks, here in Bay area,California and in many other places. If ticket prices cannot be reduced, then, people donot see light at the end of the tunnel and they will resort to using pirated CD’s. But if they know that the prices will reduce after 2 or 3 weeks, then, lot of middle class families will opt to watch in the theater once the prices get reduced.
By the way Abraka Dabra, this Photo and his sword(COMB) and your comments are perfectly matching for comedy. What movie is this? I don’t remember seeing this guy in this getup in the past.

Agree about piracy but how in the world Rajamouli, a theif of ideas and hardwork, has right to talk about piracy?
